Please include contact person's name, company name, address, phone number, fax number, and email address. Upon receipt of your sample, we will contact you immediately by phone to discuss the tooling application and discuss all details regarding the orientation of the profile on your machine.
Hot Knives will produce a CAD drawing of your wood profile showing dimensions. The drawing will also show the knife setup around the profile, and will indicate the orientation of the wood. We will fax back the CAD drawing to you as the Approval Drawing, for your inspection and approval . Upon receiving the signed approval drawing back from you, we will produce your knives exactly as per the approved drawing.
Fax
A hand drawing or tracing of the profile to (314) 963-3344 . We strive for the highest accuracy possible in duplicating/creating your profile. Because fax transmissions can somewhat distort the profile - usually by shrinking the image - although slight, a faxed image cannot be relied on without having finished dimensions clearly indicated with the profile. Please indicate finished width and height (thickness), and any other critical dimensions for any other part of the profile. With stated dimensions, within our CAD program, we can push-pull-stretch the profile to an accurate size. We probably produce 75% of all of the knives we make, working from faxes - and achieve very good results. The Approval Drawing we submit back to you for your review and signature, will be your opportunity to check the accuracy to which we produced the profile.

E-mail us a scan of the profile in Bitmap (.bmp) or JPEG (.jpeg) format. Or e-mail us a CAD drawing of the profile exported in DXF or DWG format to gethotknives@aol.com
It's easy to scan and e-mail your profile . Access your scanner through a photo editing program, like PhotoDeluxe, or similar. E-mailing a scan conveys your profile to us as accurately as is possible, and it's in our office almost instantaneously - within just minutes. Call us for some easy assistance in accomplishing this. Once you do it, you'll realize how easy it is. This is just as accurate as us having your wood sample in our hand to work with.
